Rogers Explorers

The Rogers Historical Museum will once again offer our summer program; Rogers Explorers for children ages seven through twelve. The program will be offered twice in June and twice in July for youngsters to explorer a new location each time.

The Rogers Historical Museum will once again offer our summer program; Rogers Explorers for children ages seven through twelve. The program will be offered twice in June and twice in July for youngsters to explorer a new location each time.  Each program will include a speaker, a tour, fun activity, and a short history lesson.  The program will start at 10 a.m. at each location for the week and last for about 2 hours. Cost is $5 with the reduced rate of $3 for each additional child. A guardian is requested to stay with the child and provide transportation to each meeting place. Space is limited, registration is required, please contact the museum at 479-621-1154 to sign up. The date, location, and activity for each program will be:  

Thursday, June 14th – The Arkansas-Missouri Railroad, meet at the Station in Springdale
Activity: Ride the train from Springdale to Johnson and return. The Explorers will learn about the importance of the railroad in our local history, the different types of trains, & those who ride the rails everyday.
                                                                                                                                                      
Friday, June 29th – Pea Ridge National Military Park, meet at the Park
Activity: Explore Pea Ridge National Military Park with a Park Ranger. The Explorers will tour the museum and learn the importance of this battle during the Civil War, participate in the Junior Ranger program, and see an artillery demonstration.
                                                                                                             
Friday, July 13th – Rogers Police Department, meet at the Station at Dixieland & New Hope.
Activity: Tour the Rogers Police Department. Explorers will tour the station with a police officer & learn what it takes to be a police officer.

Friday, July 27th – Arkansas Archaeological Survey, meet at the Survey’s facility in Fayetteville
Activity: Take a tour of the Archaeological Survey’s extensive collection. Explorers will watch a flint knapping demonstration, hold replica artifacts and tools, and learn how this dedicated group of historians and archaeologists are saving Arkansas’ past.
