When I was growing up, our parents got us season tickets to the local music theater in lieu of a big summer vacation. That meant that instead of traveling somewhere for a week, we were transported to another time and place through the arts several times throughout the summer.

Now that I live in Northwest Arkansas, I love that the region is rich with opportunities to enjoy the fine arts. One of my favorites, theater, is right in the heart of Downtown Rogers through the Arkansas Public Theatre at the Victory. APT is the non-profit theater organization formerly known as Rogers Little Theater, and the Victory Theater is the physical location on Second Street where the APT presents its delightful performances.  For example, this season opens in September, with productions ranging from the "Rocky Horror Show" and "The Producers" to "A Christmas Story" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technocolor Dreamcoat".

Evening performances at the APT start at 8 p.m., allowing plenty of time to enjoy other fine arts opportunities. The Rogers Historical Museum is a different kind of cultural experience that can be enjoyed during the day. For visitors who enjoy art, there’s the nearby, world-renowned Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

You really don’t even need to leave Downtown Rogers at all! Ed Cooley Gallery is open for viewing Wednesday through Saturday. You can also schedule private viewings of his beautiful photography, according to their website.

Another reason to visit Rogers is the Arkansas Music Pavilion commonly known as the Walmart AMP. Check their schedule for upcoming performance that are sure to knock your socks off! I recently saw Darius Rucker and it was a great time! I really don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house.

As I mentioned, all of Northwest Arkansas has fine arts opportunities. You can stay in one of many Rogers hotels and take I-49 to a myriad of opportunities. Check out the Visit Rogers website for a list of art galleries opportunities throughout the region and a list of performing arts locations.

What’s your favorite form of fine arts? I invite you to visit Rogers to experience what we have here.
