One of the best aspects about Rogers — and Northwest Arkansas as a whole — is how you can be in a suburban area complete with restaurants and attractions and within 15 minutes, you can be in the quietest places of nature.
Rogers is home to Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area, which is not only beautiful year-round, but features a growing number of programs designed to inspire and educate the public about history and nature. They have programs all year, and one of the most popular is the Beaver Lake Eagle Watch Cruises in the fall and early winter. Other Hobbs programs visitors enjoy in spring and summer are fortunately easily found on the Friends of Hobbs Park-Conservation Area website.
Looking at the stars and finding planets and constellations is another exciting activity. The Astronomy Nights are educational and fun. They start in April and are various nights through December.
Interested in learning more about nature? The Hobbs guest speaker series has a myriad of different topics, and the schedule features a different speaker monthly through September.
Love photography? The Photographic Society of NWA (PSNWA) hosts a series of free instructional photography programs at Hobbs. This is what they say about the requirements for the free programs: “Anyone of any photography skill level is encouraged to attend the classes, however, please note the skill level for the Photo Walks are designed for experienced amateurs, hobbyists, and accomplished photographers.”
