Early on, immigrants to America brought with them their own musical traditions. As Americans spread out across the country, their music began to interact with each other and become a sound unique to America.

New technologies of radio and television, and the ease of travel sped up this process. Now, more remote parts of the country were influenced by an evolving musical sound and began adding back their own perspective.
