Help us find the oldest quilts in Northwest Arkansas!

The Rogers Historical Museum and Northwest Arkansas Modern Quilt Guild are sponsoring Quilt Quest Contest 2021 in search of the oldest quilts in Northwest Arkansas to honor the Northwest Arkansas heritage of quilting and quilt makers as part of the Rogers 140th Anniversary Celebration in 2021.

Show us your heirloom quilts! We are searching for 19th and 20th century quilts with either original designs or traditional patterns. Complete historical and/or technical knowledge of the quilt or quilt maker is not required. We will consider any information, particularly family stories, as important clues to solving the mystery of the quilt’s age. Contest begins April 12, 2021 and ends May 10, 2021 at 11:59pm.

Finalist entries will be selected from the submissions and will be contacted for an invitation to bring their quilt(s) to the Rogers Historical Museum on Saturday, June 5, 2021 for final judging. A panel of quilt experts and local historians will carefully examine your quilt. The winning entry will be given an official authenticity certificate to help document the quilt’s history which will add to its value and increase its preservation possibilities in the future. Sorry, no financial appraisals. The winner will be announced at rogershistoricalmuseum.org and on the museum’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

Contest entry forms will be available beginning April 12 at rogershistoricalmuseum.org/rogers140th or contact Ms. Monte Harris at the Rogers Historical Museum at (479) 621-1154 or mharris@rogersar.gov. Two color photographs of each quilt is required for each entry. One photograph focused on overall design and one close-up view of stitching, workmanship and fabric. Anyone can participate. No entry fees. No limit as to the number of entries. One entry form per quilt.

All entries must be submitted online or postmarked by May 10, 2021. Submit mailed entries to Quilt Quest Contest, Rogers Historical Museum, 322 South Second Street, Rogers, AR 72756.

The Rogers Historical Museum is located at 313 South Second Street, at the corner of Second and Cherry in the Rogers Historic District. Due to the pandemic, we are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
