The Rogers Historical Museum will once again be hosting the Sugar Creek Model Railroad Club’s model railroad show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 during Frisco Festival in downtown Rogers. This free event will feature several model railroad displays in the various gauges and in various size displays at the Museum’s Hailey Building at 313 S. 2nd Street. This show will be in conjunction with the Museum’s current exhibit “Trains, Trains & More Trains”.

Rogers was founded as a railroad town. May 10, 1881 the first St. Louis & San Francisco (affectionately called the Frisco) train stopped in Rogers and today is celebrated as the City’s official birthday. In the 1960s passenger rail service ended in Rogers, but today the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad still stops in Rogers to pick up and drove off goods at various locations.  In 1985, the town began the Frisco Festival to honor the Rogers heritage and remember our connection to the railroad.
