HKS is very pleased to have another Unboxed ONLINE cooking class in partnership with KT Produce and Chef Haley O'Brien! In this class Chef Haley will "unbox" a fresh produce kit from KT Produce and show you how to create a beautiful meal by using what's in your box. Each participant will get a fresh produce box (over 20 lbs of goodness) and can follow along as Haley preps the ingredients. The menu for this class will focus on delicious fall dishes....let us help you with fun creative ways to use fresh veggies and fruits during this difficult time of grocery shopping. Here is how it works:

Purchase a ticket (ticket price includes your KT Produce box)
Swing by Honeycomb Kitchen Shop on 10/29 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm to pickup your produce box (curbside)
Log in to Zoom (we provide meeting info and password) at 6:30pm to enjoy the cooking class with Haley in our HKS kitchen.
Prepare and enjoy the massive amount of fresh fruits and veggies!

About KT Produce

KT Produce is a local family-owned wholesale produce distribution company located just down the road in Lowell, Arkansas.

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit and schools & restaurants closed, KT lost 90% of their business overnight. With a warehouse full of perishable food on hand, and area groceries struggling to keep up with inventory and pick up options; they immediately took action to get healthy food in the hands of local families by selling direct to consumer for the first time.

The community response was incredible and it has kept them afloat. Quickly after they began, they saw the need to expand their offerings to other staple goods like eggs, bread, honey and local cheeses. But their most popular option has been their signature KT FRESH BOX:

A variety mystery box, curated by them daily that includes staple vegetables, fruits, fresh greens, sometimes an adventurous item you may not have worked with before, a few things that go well together, and suggested recipes! It is an overstuffed 1/2 bushel box of produce--always over 20lbs and market price is around $35--over 30% savings off retail.

About the Chef

Haley O’Brien has been working in the food and beverage industry for over a decade. She started in front of house, working her way into the craft beer sector then circling around to working in kitchens to produce locally sourced, plant-based foods. Her roots in the Kansas City brewery scene lead her to her knowledge and love of flavor pairings. Then she followed her passion for cooking and creating palate experiences by attending and working at Brightwater: A Center for the Study of Food. She has worked heavily in specialty catering events, festivals, in-house dining experiences and she teaches cooking classes through Honeycomb Kitchen Shop. She has started offering in-house cooking coach lessons to help people become more confident in their own home kitchen and curates a program for her individual clients. She is passionate about connecting with small local farmers and using vegetables that may not sell at the market. She is focusing on whole food cooking that uses the entire plant or product to help minimize food waste and create unique dishes. When not cooking, she is exploring creative work such as music, art and dance. She is also an avid tea drinker and is studying Ayurvedic medicine + herbal remedies. She believes in self-healing, conscious living, yoga and meditation, in addition to the power of connecting with nature. She also enjoys teaching, connecting with people and public speaking. She invests time in gardening and raising her pets, as well as, values her relationships with friends and family.
